We believe we do a far better job than other schools in preparing students to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex industry. But we do not feel it is enough simply to prepare students for successful careers. We want to see them begin those careers. So we put a great deal of emphasis on , and spend considerable time with, career placement activities.
The Academy bases its placement service on the complete file it maintains for each student. Besides a personal biography and a record of the student's coursework, the file includes such information as occupational interests, professional strengths and preferred geographical areas of employment. It also contains an assessment of the kind of job opportunities best matching the student's desires, needs and qualifications.
The curriculum specifically addresses job-search
requirements. Students learn techniques for preparing
effective resumes, as well as techniques for successful
interviewing. Videotaped practice interviews perfect the
techniques learned in class. By the end of the course
students will have prepared a complete resume and gained
considerable mastery of interview techniques.
Of particular value to the placement process is the
Academy's access to comprehensive industry knowledge, as
represented by the faculty, other Bolack Total Travel agents
and executives, the Bolack Advisory Board and the many
industry professionals with whom Bolack personnel interact
daily. The Academy thus has up-to-date information on job
opportunities associated with the latest industry
developments. In addition, the Academy subscribes to several
personnel services that provide monthly employment
updates on job opportunities in the travel industry.
Armed with an intimate knowledge of student qualifications and interests and a broad knowledge of the industry's personnel requirements, the Academy has achieved exceptional results in its placement efforts. More than 90% of Academy graduates have been placed successfully. They are now working for travel agencies, airlines, hotels, tour companies, cruise lines and related organizations throughout the nation.
The Academy does not, indeed cannot, guarantee
employment for any graduate. It does, however, guarantee that
it will do all it can to help with the placement effort.
