Forty years ago, what others saw as too steep to ski, was Ernie Blake's vision of a ski purist's paradise. Swiss-born Ernie Blake founded the Taos Ski Valley in 1955 with the aid of 18 Taos Indians. Now, Taos Ski Valley boasts 1,100 skiable acres with a 2,612' vertical drop. There are 72 trails and 11 lifts with an uphill capacity of more than 15,500 skiers per hour. And now, with the completion of our new, 18,000 square foot Kinderkäfig, our acclaimed children's ski school programs are under one all-inclusive roof.
